Elsewedy Technical Academy and Suez Steel sign a partnership agreement in a new milestone in their continued strategic cooperation
Elsewedy Technical Academy signed a cooperation agreement
with Suez Steel to sponsor 200 students to be enrolled in the field of iron and
steel in the current academic year, within the framework of their continuous
cooperation over the past years
The agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy, Chairman
of the Board of Trustees of Elsewedy Electric Foundation and Mr. Rafic Daou,
Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Suez Steel Company in the presence of
Mrs. Hanan El Rihany, Chief Executive Officer of Elsewedy Technical Academy and
General Secretary of Elsewedy Electric Foundation, and several managers and
officials from both sides
Suez Steel has been the strategic partner of Elsewedy
Technical Academy for four years. The partnership started in 2017 through the
"Training for Employment" program, where 200 youth were trained in
mechanics and electricity by Elsewedy Technical Academy and employed in Suez
Steel
In 2018, Elsewedy Technical Academy launched a new specialization
in the field of Iron and Steel following dual system of vocational education
and training (VET) in partnership with Suez Steel. The company sponsored and
provided apprenticeship for 90 students, 46 students graduated in the academic
year 2020/2021 and are now being prepared to be employed at Suez Steel
The partnership between the academy and the company is
continuing through the "Training for Employment" program in
cooperation with the Sawiris Foundation for Development to train 60 young people
by the Elsewedy Technical Academy and the Egyptian-German Academy for Technical
Training. The trainees will be provided employment opportunities at Suez Steel
to in the fields of mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, CNC, and
Plumbing
Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Elsewedy Electric Foundation, said: "We are pleased to sign the cooperation agreement with Suez Steel, which comes as a complement to the continuous and fruitful strategic cooperation over the past years. Since the launch of the Academy, we have been striving to achieve the highest level of quality in technical education based on innovation and using the latest technology, to develop technical education in Egypt and serve society and the economy in general. We have trained and prepared 1,200 male and female students in more than 13 fields and specializations in line with the needs of the labor market, rendering our approach aligned with 8 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals"
For his part, Mr. Rafic Daou, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Suez Steel Company added that the industry has always been the locomotive of development in all societies and one of the main ways in developing the economic infrastructure in all countries. "This is why Suez Steel believes in the strategic partnership with Elsewedy Technical Academy to develop the human resources necessary for the iron and steel industry starting at specialized vocational and technical education curricula offered by the Academy"
