As Chairman of its Board of Directors, Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Umbals and Urban Communities, congratulated the Board members and all the staff of the New Urban Communities Authority on the award of the New Urban Communities Authority of the Ministry of Housing to UN-HABITAT 2021, which is awarded in the field of sustainable development from more than 170 nominations from many countries, one of the most prestigious awards in the world to individuals, cities, organizations and projects in operation To sustainable urbanization.
Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar stressed that the selection committee for the award unanimously considered that the New Urban Sociations Authority should receive the award for its long-term role in achieving sustainable development, through the provision of safe and affordable social housing projects to encourage social cohesion for the population, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt Vision 2030, he explained that the authority is the arm of the state in urban development, and it has developed its performance significantly during the past seven years, which has been reflected in an increase in its investment budget annually.
The Minister of Housing said that the New Urban Communities Authority during the past seven years has received great support from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic, who believed in its capabilities in building and development, and then set out to implement hundreds of thousands of housing units that suit different income segments, in planned urban housing communities, It provides Quality of life, and enjoys different services, as thousands of different service buildings have been constructed and operated.
The Minister added that the Authority is currently implementing 25 new cities of the fourth generation, with the aim of planned urban expansion, to accommodate the population increase and provide opportunities for investment and employment, in implementation of the output of the strategic plan for urban development in Egypt 2052, and the Authority was also concerned with providing means of urban mass transport for the residents of new cities. Soon the residents of new cities will enjoy the services of Monorail, electric train, and the Authority did not neglect to provide recreational services for its residents, from youth centers, sports clubs, bicycle paths and a tourist aisles Coastal cities, as well as a group of distinguished parks and parks, chief of which are the central parks of the new capital.
