Marriott, Jr., currently Chairman Emeritus of Marriott International, Inc. and previously the Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board before retiring in May of 2022. The evening continued with an exciting concert by superstar, Ragheb Alama in addition to DJ Rodge playing throughout the night.
On this occasion, Satya Anand, President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International commented, “For more than four decades, Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino has maintained its position at the forefront of Cairo’s hospitality industry and occupies a special place in the hearts of Egyptian nationals, residents and guests from across the globe."

We are excited to celebrate the hotel’s legacy with our partners, Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels, and look forward to more milestones in future years.”
The Cairo Marriott Hotel is not merely considered one of the best hotels in Egypt that provides the highest levels of services to numerous guests who visit the country; the hotel has always set the standards of luxury and elegance in a place that blends the glory of the past, the brilliance of the present, and the ambitions of the future.
An important role the Cairo Marriott has played over the decades is to train, develop, and upskill hospitality workers and specialists. As a result, some of the most prominent names in the local hospitality scene pass through the Cairo Marriott and Omar Khayyam Casino hotel, creating a distinctive generation of hospitality and tourism experts in Egypt.
The management of the Cairo Marriott Hotel, in partnership with the Egyptian General Company for Tourism & Hotels, EGOTH, constantly works to develop the hotel and all its facilities. The coming year, 2023, would witness the inauguration of several new facilities including hotel restaurants and suites.
Celebrating our Ruby Jubilee, Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino’s management is more focused than ever on providing the guests with unrivaled services and amenities, ensuring they spend an unforgettable time at the hotel. The hotel is also planning to achieve more successes in the coming period, which would witness a significant development in the tourism sector in Egypt.
The Cairo Marriott Hotel and Omar Khayyam Casio is a standout hotel among Marriott International facilities, as the Palace has had a storied history over the decades. Khedive Ismail commissioned Austrian architects Julius Franz and De Curel Del Rosso to design the Palace's exterior, while German architect Carol von Diebitsch designed the interior. Many of the original furniture pieces still survive to this day.
Conceived initially as a guest palace for the inauguration of the Suez Canal, the facility hosted some of history's monarchs, including Napoleon III's wife, Empress Eugenie. It also hosted the first-ever performance of Verdi's Opera Aida. It also witnessed Khedive Ismail's son's wedding, which lasted for 40 days, and Prime Minister Nahhas Pasha's daughter in the 1930s.
In the 1970s, the renovation and restoration process of the palace began and the Cairo Marriott Hotel was officially inaugurated in October 1982 as one of the most distinctive hotels in Cairo. Today, the Palace is the only part of the estate that survives. The two 20-story towers, housing 1,064 rooms, hold most of the rooms connected directly to the Palace. They house several Executive Rooms, 5 Presidential Suites, Three Ambassador Suites, Two Royal Suites, 101 Diplomatic Suites, and Two Bridal Suites. This is in addition to many distinctive restaurants and casinos.
Several prominent and iconic figures have preferred to stay in the Cairo Marriott Hotel during their visit to Egypt including Indian superstar, Amitabh Bachchan, Yanni, a leading figure in late 20th-century New Age music, and many other renowned international persons throughout the hotel's glorious history.
The unique premises and unrivaled service quality, coupled with some of the best restaurants and amenities in Egypt, made the Cairo Marriott & Omar Khayyam a landmark in Egypt's capital.
Cairo Marriott Hotel and Omar Khayyam Casino also hosted many high profile, exclusive conferences, corporate meetings, and events in its 19 conference rooms, which include the 8,000-square-foot “Aida” Ballroom. Those facilities can accommodate functions with 10 to 1,000 guests.
