REDCON Signs Sustainable Communities Initiative Declaration at the UN GLOBAL COMPACT Panel in COP27
REDCON for Offices and Commercial Centers, as part of the founding members, signed today the “Egypt’s Sustainable Communities Initiative – Building for Better Lives”. This initiative aims to unite, coordinate, and guide the actions of all stakeholders across the built environment value chain that will ensure the well-being of people and the planet through the construction and real-estate sector practices in Egypt.
The declaration includes a roadmap for implementation as well as the support and recognition of national and global benchmarks and best practices. This declaration will unite the leadership of the real estate sector towards working to a common goal of building sustainable communities and setting the standard for the real-estate sector in Egypt.
UNGC and DCarbon will act as neutral supporters to the signatories and the governing body of the declaration. They will also monitor, report and examine the progress of the member’s in achieving the goals of the initiative.
The initiative included the participation of the following companies from the real estate sector of Egypt, REDCON Construction, REDCON for Offices and Commercial Centers, DCarbon, Misr Italia Properties and Tatweer Misr, The signing was concluded during the panel hosted by UN Global Compact which was attended by Eng. Tarek El Gammal, Chairman of REDCON and Mr. Ahmed Abdalla, Vice Chairman of REDCON, Dr. Ehab Shalaby, Chairman & CEO of DCarbon Egypt, Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Board of UN Global Compact Network Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Shalaby – President & CEO Tatweer Misr, Eng. Mohamed Hany El Assal, CEO & Managing Director, Misr Italia Properties and Eng. Mohamed Khaled El Assal, CEO and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties.
“REDCON is extremely proud to be one of the founding members of this initiative and we are very happy to see that other members of the real estate community are also on the same page as that of REDCON when it comes to sustainable development.” Eng. Tarek El Gammal said.
He added: “This initiative compliments our strategy being followed at REDCON for Offices and Commercial Centers, which are all enshrined in our flagship project Golden Gate. This project will help to set the benchmark for all projects that will follow as it adheres to the highest standards of sustainable development as well as being guided by the UN SDGs, covering 9 of the 17 UN SDGs”
REDCON for Offices and Commercial Centers is a founding member of the Egyptian Green Building Council (EGBC), a member of Chapter Zero, UN Global Compact Network in Egypt as well as a member of African Business Leaders.
