Egyptian Food Bank and Madinet Masr (Madinet Nasr for Housing and Development) Signs a Cooperation Agreement to Execute Iftar Saeem Program in Assiut

The Company offers 250 iftar meals every day and distributes 10,000 food boxes to cater to the needs of 53,000 unprivileged families

Madinet Masr, one of the leading real estate developers in Egypt, known previously as Madinet Nasr for Housing and Development has signed a cooperation agreement with the Egyptian Food Bank. As per the agreement, the company sponsored Ramadan mercy tables “Ma'edat Al Rahman” in Assiut governorate, by offering 250 iftar meals every day and donating 10,000 food packages to cater to the needs of 53,000 families. The program falls within Iftar Saeem program, which targets unprivileged families throughout the holy month of Ramadan in the governorate.

The agreement between Madinet Masr and the Egyptian Food Bank relies on the bank’s robust database, which comprises the most vulnerable individuals and families in Egypt, among which are 34,000 families in Assiut. Egyptian Food Bank launched Iftar Saeem program aiming to distribute one million food packages and host 100 mercy tables, including stationary tables and the distribution of free meals during the holy month of Ramadan throughout Egypt.

“Supporting local communities by launching charity and CSR initiatives is an integral part of our strategy. Accordingly, our cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank, one of the largest NGOs aiming to eliminate hunger in Egypt, underscores our willingness to support the most impoverished people in Egypt. We’re looking forward to expanding this fruitful partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank, as to serve as many beneficiaries as possible, starting in Assiut and moving to other governorates all over Egypt”. Said Abdallah Sallam, CEO and Managing Director of Madinet Masr.

For his part, Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, said: “EFB aims to provide 50 million meals to needy people during the holy month of Ramadan through Iftar Saeem program, one of our key activities implemented under the slogan "Food ... A Basic Life Need". I would like to seize this opportunity to thank Madinet Masr, for its unwavering support and trust in EFB as a specialized foundation supporting vulnerable groups based on professional case studies”

This cooperation reflects the Egyptian Food Bank's interest to provide food supplies to families in need, to cater to basic requirements of the most vulnerable groups in Egypt, by securing food access to them during the holy month of Ramadan. This cause aligns with EFB’s strategy and plans for human development and the human right to lead a decent life. The main focus of EFB is food security, which is achievable through a comprehensive vision to offer healthy food to the beneficiaries as per the needs of each category, building on EFB’s database, which encompasses millions of families across Egypt, supported by Madinet Masr’s vision to help create a vast impact in the Egyptian society.
