Cairo – November4, 2025: Cairo, November 4, 2025 –The Egyptian Food Bank (EFB), the first development-focused organization in the region specializing in providing safe and nutritious food to those in need, has announced a new partnership with Kellanova Group, a leading company in global snacking, international cereal and noodles, plant-based foods and frozen breakfast, in a joint effort to strengthen food security and improve early childhood nutrition in Upper Egypt. The partnership falls under EFB’s “Build Their Future” child nutrition program.
The announcement was made during an official signing ceremony attended by Mr. Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, and Mr. Robert Chandran Shanmugam, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Kellanova, marking the official launch of the program in Minya Governorate, one of EFB’s key focus areas for development efforts.
“Our partnership represents a new model of integration between developmental work and private sector social responsibility,” said Mr. Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of EFB. “Through our four main pillars, protection, prevention, empowerment, and elevation, we aim to achieve sustainable food security. We don’t just provide food; we work toward lasting solutions to end hunger and ensure a healthier, brighter future for Egyptians, especially children, building stronger generations capable of learning and growing properly.”
For his part, Mr. Robert Chandran Shanmugam stated, “We believe that access to adequate food is a fundamental right for every child. We are committed to supporting the communities where we operate by helping those facing food insecurity. We are proud of our strategic partnership with EFB through the ‘Build Their Future’ initiative, which aims to provide school breakfast meals to children from food-insecure families in Minya and other communities we serve. This contribution represents a step forward in fulfilling Kellanova’s Better Days™ Promise, our commitment to creating a more sustainable and equitable future where everyone can thrive.”
This partnership represents another milestone in EFB’s transformation from a charitable organization providing food assistance to a developmental institution that applies scientific innovation in designing impactful programs and building strategic partnerships for long-term social change. It also highlights Kellanova’s commitment as a global company that prioritizes sustainability and community engagement, paving the way for further joint initiatives in the future.
EFB, established in 2004 as a non-governmental organization, has been working for over 20 years to achieve food security in Egypt. Through a variety of programs targeting the most vulnerable families, EFB operates on the principles of efficiency and transparency in resource allocation and collaborates with both local and international partners to achieve broad and sustainable impact.
