Cairo – August 8, 2026: The first edition of the Red Sea Forum for Energy and Sustainable Tourism concluded its activities under the patronage of the Red Sea Governorate and organized by ECO Solutions for Solar Energy and Environmental Solutions (ECO Solutions), with broad participation from approximately 50 government and private-sector entities, hotels and tourism resorts, as well as representatives of the Safari Association in Hurghada, Canal Electricity Distribution Company, Red Sea Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, the Environmental Affairs Agency, the National Council for Women, the Red Sea Engineers Syndicate, and a number of commercial and private-sector companies, financial institutions, media professionals, and specialists in the energy and tourism sectors.
The forum discussed mechanisms to support the transition toward clean energy, strengthen integration between the energy and tourism sectors, and link renewable energy projects with sustainable tourism development plans. These efforts are aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the National Sustainable Energy Strategy, and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy’s efforts to increase the contribution of clean energy sources to the country’s energy mix. The discussions also supported the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ efforts to expand the implementation of environmental sustainability standards across tourism establishments.
Eng. Ahmed Dahy, Executive Director of ECO Solutions for Solar Energy and Environmental Solutions, said the forum was launched based on the company’s vision of establishing a platform that brings together, for the first time, all stakeholders in the energy and tourism sectors in the Red Sea Governorate, including government entities, investors, experts, and local and international companies.
He explained that the forum’s primary objective is to bridge the coordination gap among these stakeholders and transform dialogue into tangible projects and investment opportunities that support the transition toward a green economy.
Dahy added in press statements that the forum represents a practical step toward supporting the state’s efforts to expand renewable energy projects and enhance private-sector participation in implementing clean energy solutions within the tourism sector.
He emphasized that achieving sustainable tourism increasingly depends on expanding the use of solar energy and energy-efficiency solutions, which can contribute to reducing operating costs, lowering carbon emissions, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egypt’s tourism destination.
He noted that bringing the energy and tourism sectors together in a single forum reflects the strong integration between the two sectors. The tourism sector is among the major energy-consuming sectors, while the Red Sea Governorate benefits from one of the world’s highest levels of solar radiation, creating significant opportunities for expanding solar energy projects in hotels, resorts, and tourism facilities.
Dahy further pointed out that the forum witnessed an agreement to launch cooperation between ECO Solutions and the Red Sea Engineers Syndicate to introduce specialized training programs covering the design, implementation, and operation of solar energy systems. The initiative aims to prepare qualified engineering and technical professionals to support the renewable energy market, alongside cooperation meetings with a number of participating companies and institutions.
The forum also featured the participation of GoodWe, one of China’s leading global manufacturers of solar energy components and systems, which presented its latest solutions and technologies in solar energy and energy storage.
Dahy confirmed that ECO Solutions is currently implementing a number of solar energy projects for the tourism and industrial sectors, in addition to seawater desalination projects powered by renewable energy, electric vehicle charging stations, and smart hotel management and operation systems (GRMS). These solutions contribute to improving operational efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing the overall performance of tourism facilities.
He added that the company plans to expand the implementation of renewable energy projects during the coming period and is studying the establishment of a specialized training and knowledge-transfer center focusing on solar energy and sustainable solutions, in cooperation with its local and international partners.
The initiative aims to support technology localization and develop national human resources, in line with the state’s efforts to deepen local manufacturing and develop industries related to clean energy.
Dahy pointed out that the tourism sector is witnessing rapidly growing demand for solar energy solutions and energy storage systems, as hotels and resorts seek to reduce operating costs and comply with international sustainability standards.
He noted that the forum also witnessed the participation of several banking institutions, including Banque Misr, National Bank of Egypt, and QNB, which presented financing programs dedicated to supporting renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects and established direct communication channels with investors and tourism facility owners.
The Executive Director of ECO Solutions emphasized that the company aims to transform the Red Sea Forum for Energy and Sustainable Tourism into an annual event bringing together government entities, the private sector, financial institutions, and international companies.
The forum is envisioned as a national platform for exchanging expertise, showcasing the latest technologies, attracting investments, and supporting the implementation of the state’s objectives for transitioning toward a green economy and increasing reliance on renewable energy sources.
For his part, Eng. Ziad El-Sokary, Board Member of ECO Solutions for Solar Energy and Environmental Solutions, said the forum reflects the growing interest across various sectors in adopting clean energy solutions.
He emphasized that the next phase requires stronger partnerships among the private sector, government entities, and financial institutions to accelerate the implementation of renewable energy projects, particularly in tourism-oriented governorates.
El-Sokary explained that the forum concluded with a number of recommendations, foremost among them expanding the use of solar energy and energy storage systems in tourism facilities, encouraging seawater desalination projects powered by renewable energy, supporting energy-efficiency applications and smart buildings, strengthening public-private partnerships, and expanding training and capacity-building programs for engineering and technical professionals.
El-Sokary stressed that ECO Solutions continues to work on transferring the latest global technologies to the Egyptian market through partnerships with leading international companies. These partnerships contribute to supporting the state’s strategy to expand renewable energy, enhance the competitiveness of the tourism sector, and establish the Red Sea as a leading model for clean energy applications and sustainable tourism in Egypt and the region.
