MO Group Bets on Kenya as a Hub for Expansion Across East and Central African Markets

Cairo, Egypt, 20 August 2026: “MO Group” is participating in Africa Food Show Kenya 2026, scheduled to take place in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, from August 19 to 21, as part of the company’s strategy to expand across East African markets and increase exports of chocolate, hard candy and biscuits.

Hamdy El-Abrak, Chairman of “MO Group,” which specializes in the manufacture of chocolate, hard candy and biscuits, said Kenya is one of the key markets the group is targeting for expansion during the current period, given the opportunities available for Egyptian products and the country’s position as one of the main markets in East Africa.

He added: “Kenya serves as a gateway for expansion into a number of markets, most notably Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Congo and South Sudan,” noting that the group already has a presence in Kenya and is seeking to expand further in the coming period, alongside entering new markets in various regions worldwide, most notably Haiti and Uruguay.

El-Abrak added that, through its participation in the exhibition, the company aims to connect with new importers and distributors and explore opportunities to expand the presence of its chocolate and hard candy products in the Kenyan market, supporting its plans to increase overseas sales in the coming period.

For his part, Mohamed Habib, Business Development Consultant at “MO Group,” said Egyptian products enjoy a competitive advantage in the Kenyan market under the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) agreement, which allows products that meet the applicable rules of origin to benefit from customs duty exemptions among member states, strengthening their competitiveness in terms of both cost and pricing.

Habib noted that the company views Kenya as an important launchpad for strengthening its presence across East African markets, benefiting from the trade agreements linking Egypt with a number of countries in the region, as well as growing demand for food and confectionery products.

He stressed that “MO Group” has recorded significant growth in its exports during the current period, as the company continues to implement its strategy of diversifying export markets and entering new ones, while simultaneously expanding its business volumes in markets where it already operates.

Africa Food Show is one of the specialized exhibitions for the food and agricultural industries in Africa, bringing together producers, manufacturers, investors, distributors and representatives from across the food value chain, providing a platform to explore trade and investment opportunities and establish partnerships among companies operating in the sector.
