Cairo, 29 October 2026: ESS AE Holding showcased its technological solutions for infrastructure development and enhancing water resource management efficiency through the participation of its subsidiary, Emirates Smart Solutions, in Cairo Water Week. The participation highlighted the integration of expertise across the Group’s companies in project implementation, as well as the role of advanced control and monitoring systems in improving operations and optimizing water and energy consumption.
The Group leverages the technical and technological expertise of its companies to deliver integrated solutions for projects across Egypt and African markets. Emirates Smart Solutions provides the required technological components and systems and integrates them with mechanical and electrical works, as well as other infrastructure elements, supporting the implementation and delivery of fully integrated projects that meet operational requirements.
Solutions showcased during the event included smart control systems for water facilities, technologies for monitoring water levels and flows, and digital transformation applications that support asset and facility efficiency and optimize resource utilization.
Dr. Ehab ElMesallamy, Vice President of ESS AE Holding, said: “The Group’s strategy is built around an integrated vision aimed at developing sustainable infrastructure solutions by leveraging the diverse expertise of our companies, strengthening synergies across our business sectors, and establishing strategic partnerships with leading global companies. Through this model, we seek to provide integrated solutions covering the different stages of a project, from planning and implementation through to operation, enhancing asset efficiency, increasing the added value of projects, and supporting development plans across the markets in which we operate.”
He added: “ESS AE Holding’s participation in Cairo Water Week, through its subsidiary Emirates Smart Solutions, reflects the Group’s strategy to strengthen its presence in vital sectors, particularly the water sector, by leveraging advanced technologies and integrating the expertise and solutions offered by its companies. The event also provides an opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation with international partners, support the transfer and localization of advanced technologies, and develop solutions tailored to the needs of the Egyptian and African markets. This contributes to accelerating digital transformation, improving the operational efficiency of facilities and infrastructure, and enhancing the long-term sustainability of projects.”
Among the key projects highlighted during the participation was Emirates Smart Solutions’ collaboration with Siemens on the modernization of Esna Barrage. The project includes the development of the spillway at the New Esna Barrages and its integration with the hydropower plant as part of the project’s second phase. The collaboration also includes upgrading control and monitoring systems and integrating them onto a unified platform for monitoring water flows and levels, supporting the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation’s digital transformation efforts in water management.
The project works included the rehabilitation of the mechanical systems of the gates and their dewatering basins, as well as the replacement of old motors with modern alternatives. These upgrades contributed to reducing electricity consumption by between 30% and 40%. Gate control panels were also upgraded using a SCADA control and monitoring system, enabling continuous monitoring of gate positions and water levels, as well as integration with the Esna hydropower plant. This supports round-the-clock management of water flows and helps reduce water losses.
Emirates Smart Solutions’ scope of work also includes collaboration with researchers, experts, and consultants to develop solutions in remote sensing, water desalination, and water treatment. These efforts aim to improve resource efficiency, reduce operating and management costs, and limit environmentally harmful emissions, in support of the sustainable development objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
Through the integration of its companies’ operations and technological partnerships, ESS AE Holding aims to support water, infrastructure, industrial, and agricultural development projects across Egypt and African markets. These projects provide opportunities to deploy control, monitoring, and water treatment solutions tailored to the technical and operational requirements of each project, with a focus on quality of implementation and efficient resource utilization.
