In the Presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports .. Orascom Real Estate Inaugurates Phase 1 of O West Sports Club, with Investments Totaling Billions of Egyptian Pounds Across 2 Phases

Cairo, 13 October 2026: Orascom Real Estate, a leading developer of integrated towns, has inaugurated Phase 1 of O West Sports Club in the presence of Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports. The opening marks a major addition to O West’s sports and community facilities, bringing swimming pools, courts, football pitches and children’s sports programmes together in a destination designed around families.

The ceremony brought together government representatives, national and international sports leaders, senior executives from Orascom Development and Orascom Real Estate, and representatives of Blue Ribbon, the club’s operator.

The club spans 26 feddans across two phases, with 17 feddans dedicated to Phase 1 and 9 feddans to Phase 2. As one of the largest sports and social clubs in West Cairo, it offers facilities and activities for all ages, combining sport, fitness, recreation and community life.

In his inaugural speech, the Minister of Youth and Sports underscored the vital role of sports clubs and athletic facilities within master-planned residential communities. He emphasized their importance in fostering a healthy environment for physical activity, nurturing youth talent, and offering families safe, enriching spaces for athletic and social engagement.

Gohar Nabil stated: “At the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we are dedicated to driving investment in the sports sector and cultivating strategic public-private partnerships to deliver integrated athletic and social infrastructure. These initiatives are essential to promoting healthy, active lifestyles and broadening sports participation across all segments of society.”

The Minister added that sports must transcend mere competition to become a daily habit for every citizen. He noted that strong public-private partnerships are crucial to expanding athletic facilities and ensuring widespread, equitable access across the nation.

Underscoring the long-term impact of new facilities, Gohar Nabil noted that grassroots talent development relies heavily on early intervention and accessible training hubs. He stressed that fostering elite athletes requires a dual approach: state-of-the-art facilities for everyday participation, paired with targeted encouragement and mentorship to hone dynamic young talent.

The Minister of Youth and Sports added: “Our goal is for these modern athletic clubs to act as incubators for young talent, providing youth with the platform and opportunities needed to maximize their potential. By laying this groundwork, we are building a strong pipeline of world-class athletes to represent Egypt internationally.” He reaffirmed that empowering young athletes with dedicated mentorship and state-of-the-art infrastructure remains essential to sustained sporting excellence.

Gohar Nabil also expressed his gratitude to Orascom Real Estate and the project team for their dedication to bringing the vision to life. He expressed confidence that the new club will prove a vital addition to Egypt’s sports and social landscape, offering families a vibrant community hub while inspiring youth to embrace physical activity and unlock their athletic potential.

Dr. Eskandar Tooma, Chairman of Orascom Development Egypt, said: “The inauguration of Phase 1 of O West Sports Club marks a major milestone in the town’s development. Spanning 26 feddans across 2 phases, with investments totalling billions of Egyptian pounds, the club reflects our commitment to developing facilities that enhance quality of life. From the outset of O West’s development, sport has been a pillar of our vision, alongside housing, education and services that meet residents’ everyday needs.”

“Our ambition is for the club to become part of everyday life for residents and their families, giving them opportunities to practise sport, develop their skills and spend time together. With Blue Ribbon operating the club, we look forward to delivering an experience that supports an active lifestyle and evolves with the community’s needs over the long term,” added Dr. Eskandar Tooma.

Moataz El-Etreby, CEO of Blue Ribbon, said: “We believe the success of any sports ecosystem is measured not only by the scale of its facilities or the variety of its activities, but also by its ability to create a sustainable experience with a meaningful impact on the community. Our partnership with O West represents a new model for integrating urban development and quality of life. Drawing on our expertise in managing and operating sports facilities, we are building an experience that continually evolves with the community’s needs. We look forward to helping establish a more advanced approach to sports management in Egypt, placing quality, sustainability and the development of sports professionals at the heart of the experience.”

Phase 1 features a running track, 8 squash courts, 5 padel courts, 2 basketball courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 2 swimming pools measuring 25 metres each—1 indoor and 1 outdoor—a children’s pool, a 5-a-side football pitch, an 11-a-side football pitch and an outdoor fitness area.

The club also houses TRAX, a building with a built-up area of 2,569 square meters dedicated to developing children’s movement and sporting skills from the age of 3. Its programme introduces children to a range of sports before they specialize. Blue Ribbon operates the club and delivers sports programmes for different ages and abilities, alongside its Blue Ribbon College programme for developing coaches.

Development is underway on Phase 2, which will comprise 7 buildings with a total built-up area of 6,139 square metres. Planned facilities include a recreational swimming pool, tennis, Padbol and pickleball courts, and a sports complex.

The inauguration strengthens O West’s network of facilities and services, which includes residential, educational, medical and commercial areas, a business district, and spaces for community activities and events. The town’s master plan balances built-up areas with green spaces, supported by an integrated transport system, a smart road network and advanced security solutions.

O West spans 1,000 feddans, equivalent to 4.2 million square metres, in the heart of 6th of October City. It is located close to Juhayna Square, Mall of Egypt and the Grand Egyptian Museum, with access to major roads and essential facilities and services.
